About Me

Welcome to my Web site!

About Me - The Man - The Child of God

I pray for everyone to be assembled and brought before God as believers.  I pray that all of those I meet and know will be blessed with the knowledge of Christ Jesus as their salvation.

Hello my name is Dennis Quick, known to most as 'Poppi' and I did live in Kansas City, MO for the last 30+ years before moving back to my hometown.  I grew up in Bradford, Pennsylvania, a beautiful little city in the northwest corner of the state, famous for Zippo Lighters, Case Knives and being the home of Kendall Oil.

I am a Vietnam Vet and love this country with all my heart.  I would like to say, while I truly appreciate the recent gestures of "Welcome Home", I need to say 'I came home 40 years ago' and have lived a great deal of my life in a state of trauma due to the initial perceptions and treatment by 'our citizens' about the war in which we were involved.  I am not angry but I am disappointed that so many of us lived our lives with that stigma over our heads.  At the same time, I am very proud of our young troops and the work they are doing.  I support their efforts and am pleased they are welcomed home when they return.

I am an American Christian Veteran and I pray daily for the health and well being of all those I love and care about.  I also pray for the strength and knowledge to guide me through my daily life in order to do God's will.  I pray for the health of this country and our military personal.  I pray for our leaders (both Republican and Democrat) to make the correct choices for our future and the future of the young.

I am a member of Cycle Disciples Kansas City Motorcycle Club.  We are a Christian group and we minister to bikers as well as others.  Check the website at www.cycledisciples.org for more information about the club.  We are part of the fund raising effort known as "Bikers with a Mission" (BWAM) that is held every year on the first Sunday of May.  The event supports the City Union Mission and has continued for 22 years.

I believe in the right to bear arms and fully intend to be armed at all times.

As a testimony to my salvation, I give this statement.

I have always been blessed with the presence of God if my life and have had the burden to live a large part of my life, that did not include my recognition of his glory.  There have been times in my life that I was pulled from eminent disaster and probably death by the grace of God.  I did not recognize he was the presence allowing me to be so fortunate but as I reflect and gather stories from those in my life at that time, there is no doubt.  The Lord is and has been my protector since the young days as a relatively normal child to the late adolescent years when I served my country and was exposed to the horrors of life and took that walk away from God to live and play in the dens of sin.  Even then, while I was engulfed in the world of Satan, God had his hand on me and would pull me from the fire if I got too close.  There have been so many situations when his presence was obvious and I did not connect the dots.  God is patient and he waits for us to come to him and will protects us in the meantime.  I believe that even though I did not walk in his path consistently, in my youth and even later, the Lord has always been there for me.  I am saved!!  I thank the Lord for waiting.

I would not recommend the path I took to anyone as a means to salvation but you could be on that path right now and have only to turn around and take his hand.  He will guide you the rest of the way.  You only have to ask!!

I hope that you will find this to be a place to start your day or at least check once in a while.  I intend to keep this up to date as much as possible.  Hopefully, I will be sharing photos from road trips as they happen as well as passing on interesting information.  It is also my intention to allow access to the site for others to post their stories and photos.

A summary of the last 4 years

Around mid 2006 the owner of the company I was working for decided he was going to quit his business and made an offer to sell the existing business.  Along with two others, I decided it could work under the right conditions.  We managed to put the funds together to cover the purchase and have a moderate fund to operate.  After six months of a grueling processes the sale was finished and we were on our way.  Over the course of the next year we managed to do a little business and almost survive.

Since then

After loosing almost everything, I managed to regroup and get moved to Rockford, IL and then on to Bradford, PA (my hometown) and I have been living here ever since.  I am reasonably happy with my situation now but still have some issues to work out with the VA regarding my service connected disabilities.  Most of my children are here now and spending some time with my grandchildren is fun for a while.
